Scrutineer getting a license

A scrutineer may need a federation-recognized license before taking on official work.

This step explains how the scrutineer becomes officially eligible for assignment.

How it works

Officials’ licences are licence items like any other, with one difference that matters: the category. A federation’s items each carry a Category — Dancer, Judge, Coach, Organizer, Scrutineer, Supervisor, Music or Other — so the item you need is one in the Scrutineer category (your federation may also put you under Judge or Supervisor; ask rather than guess).

1. Confirm the federation requires one at all
2. Find the item in Account → Licenses under that federation. If nothing appears, the item probably expects your club or the federation itself to apply — officials’ licences are frequently issued by the federation directly, which shows on the licence as Applied via: Federation admin
3. Pay if it is priced
4. Wait for approval — the same four checks apply as for any licence
5. Confirm it reads Active, not Pending, before you accept an assignment

Officials’ licences are often lifetime. Where a licence has no season, it does not expire and does not need renewing each year: the federation’s guidance on the field says as much — “Leave blank for a lifetime license (officials, music, DJ, etc.)”. Check which kind yours is, because it decides whether Renew license applies to you at all.
