Dancer applying for a school or club

In Vote4Dance, schools and clubs are generally handled as organizations. Joining the correct one affects licensing, team management, and support.

This step links the dancer to the organization that represents or supports them.

The dancer requests or accepts the relationship.

The school or club approves it.

Before you start

Make sure you know:

  • the exact name of the school or club
  • whether your dancer license is supposed to be self-service or club-managed
  • whether the club must already be approved by the federation for your path

How it works

  1. Find the club and press Join organization. You can find it from your federation’s page on vote4dance.com, under Organizations. If you are told “Missing profile information”, add your birth date, gender and nationality in your account settings first.

    Before you join, the window lists what you agree to: the club, and the federations it belongs to, can see your personal details on Vote4Dance, such as your name, email address and birth date, and can register you for events and manage your registrations and licences. Press Agree and join to go ahead. You can leave the club at any time with Leave organization.

  2. If the club has Member approval switched on, a manager or administrator there has to approve you. Your application shows on their members list as “Requires your action”; they can approve people one at a time or use Approve all. With the setting off, you are a member straight away. Open the club’s page again to check: once approved, it says “You are a member of this organization”.
  3. You join as a Member — the bottom of the club’s four-level ladder. That is the right level for a dancer: you represent the club and its coaches can enter you, but you cannot register on the club’s behalf or manage its members. Only ask for Coach or above if you actually do that work.
  4. Check the club appears on your account before anyone tries to use it for a licence or an entry

Your club also matters inside a class, and that is recorded separately: mostly through the club on your licence, and for groups and formations through the club that owns the team. Changing club membership moves neither. The federation reissues your licence to the new club, and a club-owned team moves when the federation moves it or approves the owning club’s request. Why it matters

Some federations require organization context for:

  • license application
  • class participation
  • team management
  • club representation

Common blockers

  • Nobody approved the application. It sits on the club’s members list until a manager or administrator looks. Nudge them; there is no reminder.
  • Wrong club. Fix it before anyone creates a licence or a registration naming it — an active licence’s club cannot be edited afterwards, only cancelled and reissued.
  • The club is not approved by its federation, so licences naming it cannot be issued. Club membership does not substitute for that. See Federation status.
  • No date of birth on your account. The club cannot apply for a licence for you without it.

What success looks like

The dancer is linked to the correct school or club and can use that context in later workflows.

Practical advice

  • Join the school or club before event registration week.
  • You can join more than one club. If you do, registration asks which club you dance for in that event.
  • If you dance in more than one context, confirm which club should be used for the next license or event.
  • If the wrong club was selected, fix that before asking anyone to create a license or submit a registration.
