Dancer account creation
This is the first real step in the dancer journey. If the account is wrong, every later step becomes slower and more manual.
What this step is for
A dancer account stores your identity, federation affiliation, licensing status, registrations, and rankings in Vote4Dance. You must create this account yourself (personal, not shared).
Where to go
Navigate to https://vote4dance.com
You’ll see the Vote4Dance homepage with a Sign Up button in the top-right corner.
Before you start
Gather these details:
- Your full name as your federation or event organizer knows it (example: “Alex Jordan Smith” — not nicknames)
- Your email address
- Your birth year (if your federation requires age verification; leave blank if unsure)
- Ideally, the name of the school/club you’ll join (optional — you can add this later)
Step-by-step: Create your account
Step 1: Start the signup
- Go to https://vote4dance.com
- Click the blue Sign Up button (top-right corner)
- You’ll see a signup form with these fields:
- Password
- Full Name
- Birth Year (optional)
Step 2: Fill in your account details
Email — Your permanent email address
- Example:
alex.smith@email.com - This is how you’ll sign in
- Make it a personal email — not a shared school email
Password — At least 8 characters, mix of letters and numbers
- Example:
DanceChamp2025! - You’ll use this to sign in every time
- Write it down securely
Full Name — Your name exactly as your federation records show it
- Example:
Alex Jordan Smith - NOT a nickname (the organizer won’t find you if it’s different)
- Spelling matters — Verify twice
- Use first and last name minimum
Birth Year (optional, but required by some federations)
- Example:
2008 - Only enter the year if your federation requires age verification
- If you don’t know, leave blank for now
Step 3: Verify and submit
- Review all fields (especially Full Name — spelling is critical)
- Check “I agree to the terms” if shown
- Click Create Account button
- Wait a few seconds while the account is created
Step 4: Verify your email
- Check your email inbox for a message from Vote4Dance
- Click the Verify Email link in that message
- You’re now fully signed up
What your account looks like after creation
- You can sign in anytime at vote4dance.com with your email and password
- Your name appears in the top-right corner after signing in
- You see a dashboard with options like “Licenses”, “Events”, “My Rankings”
- You cannot yet register for events — you’ll need a license (if required by your federation)
Troubleshooting
“The email is already in use”
This means a Vote4Dance account already exists with that email.
Option 1: Use a different email
- Create an account with a different email address
Option 2: Recover the existing account
- Click “Already have an account?” on the signup page
- Click “Forgot password?” and reset it
- Link to the existing account (better than creating a second one)
“I don’t see a verification email”
- Wait 2 minutes
- Check your spam/junk folder
- If still missing, click “Resend verification email” on the signup page
“Full Name shows but it’s wrong”
If the name is misspelled:
- Sign in to your account
- Click your name in the top-right corner → Profile
- Click Edit next to Full Name
- Correct the spelling
- Click Save
Do this BEFORE joining a school/club or applying for licenses (fixing it later is painful).
What to check immediately after creation
- ✓ You can sign in again (try signing out, then signing back in)
- ✓ Your name is spelled correctly in your profile
- ✓ You only have ONE Vote4Dance account
- ✓ Your email address is active (you can sign in with it)
Why accuracy matters
Your account may later be linked to:
- licenses
- school or club membership
- event registrations
- rankings and federation state
If the account data is inconsistent, support work becomes slower and more manual.
Common blockers
- The dancer created multiple accounts.
- The name format does not match federation records.
- The account is created too late, after registration already opened.
What success looks like
The dancer has one clear account that can be used for membership, licensing, registration, and ranking visibility.
If something is wrong
- If you already have another Vote4Dance account, stop and decide which one should be kept.
- If your name or identity details are wrong, fix that before asking a school, club, or federation to connect anything.
- If the organizer or school cannot find you later, the most common cause is that the wrong account was used.
