Scrutineer event assignment

Scrutineers are typically assigned rather than self-registering like dancers. This step covers how event work becomes official.

What this step is for

This step explains how organizers and scrutineers align on event access and operational responsibilities.

How you actually get access

There is no scrutineer self-registration. Somebody with Manager on the event adds you:

  1. They open Manager → Event → Users
  2. They find your account with Search user by name or email, by your name or your whole email address — so you need a personal account first, and they need the address it uses
  3. They tick the apps you need
  4. Optionally they give you a role title such as “Chief scrutineer”. It is only a label; access follows the ticked apps.

Which apps to ask for:

App Why
Supervisor Your own tool: unpublished results, judge marks, offsets, live judging status. Ask for this one always.
Manager Only if you also work the desk. It is full access to the setup, which most scrutineers neither need nor want.
Speaker Only if you will be the one publishing results from the floor console.

Ticking Manager does not give you Supervisor, or the other way round: the apps are ticked one by one. If you can open the event but not the app you expect, that is why.

Before the event

  1. Sign in and open the event. You should see a Supervisor tile. Do this days before, not on the morning.
  2. Check the panels. Every judge has a type — Judge, Chief judge (in), Chief judge (out), Trainee, Audience — and the type decides whether their marks count. Confirm the types are what the federation expects, especially which chief judge is in and which is out.
  3. Check Problems in Manager with the organizer, or ask them to. Rounds without judges, group classes without judges, overlapping scheduling and start-number conflicts are all things you would otherwise find during the competition.
  4. Agree who publishes. Supervisor cannot publish; publishing is done from Speaker or Manager. Decide who presses it, and what you want to have checked before it happens.
  5. Agree the escalation path for a correction after a result is published.

What success looks like

You open the Supervisor app on the day, see the current round’s marks as they arrive, and nothing about your access or the panel setup is a surprise.
