Dancer federation status through school or club
The school or club normally handles federation joining. For the dancer, this step is about making sure that federation status is correctly established through the organization, license, and eligibility setup.

This step makes sure the dancer is visible in the correct federation context before registration or ranking matters, without implying that the dancer personally joins the federation as an administrator.

What the dancer should ask the school or club
- Is the club already approved in the federation?
- Does my license use the same federation?
- Do I need any club-specific approval before I can register?
- Is there any age, class, or representation issue that should be solved first?
How it works
You do not apply to a federation yourself. Your federation standing comes from two places:
- Your club’s link. Your club applies to the federation and is either Pending or Approved. Until it is approved, no licence naming that club can be issued — so a club that applied late blocks its dancers no matter how early they applied.
- Your licence. The licence is what actually makes you eligible, and it belongs to you personally. See Getting a license.
Some federations also want a federation ID of their own — a MIN, WSCID or licence number from their system. You enter it on your account and press Verify, and it ends up in one of these states:

| Saved, not verified | Stored but not checked yet — not good enough to apply with. |
| Not found | The federation’s system does not recognise the ID. Where your club is chosen first, the number is not in that club’s member list: check the number, and that you chose the club you are a member of. |
| Birthdate does not match federation record | The date of birth in the federation’s member register differs from the one on your account. If the date on your account is correct, do not change it: ask your club or the federation to check your record in their register. |
| Not active | You are in the federation’s member register, but your membership there is not active. Ask your club or the federation to check your membership status. |
| Verification failed | The federation’s member register could not be reached. Try again in a few minutes. |
A few federations issue credentials per club rather than per person. There you pick your club first — the field says so: “Select your organization above before verifying — this federation uses per-organization credentials.” If you apply without choosing a club, the application says: “Select your club first. Member numbers are checked against each club’s member list.”
What to remember
A dancer may feel ready to compete before the federation state is fully ready. Those are not always the same thing.
Common blockers
- The school or club is not properly approved in the federation workflow.
- The dancer has a club but no valid federation-linked license.
- The dancer assumes one federation path works for another.
- The dancer tries to register before federation-related approvals are finished.
What success looks like
The dancer can move forward into event registration without federation eligibility surprises, and the school or club has already handled the federation-side joining step.
If you are still blocked
With a valid account and a club, the blocker is almost always one of these, in this order:
- The club is not approved by the federation yet. Ask the club; they can see it on their own federation page.
- The club is approved but cannot issue licences. That is a separate permission the federation grants, and licence items that require a club need it.
- The wrong federation is on the licence. Licences belong to one federation.
- Your federation ID is not Verified, where the item requires one.
- Your licence is Pending rather than Active. Pending does not count at registration.
