Organizer applying for a school or club

Many organizers operate through a school, club, or other organization. In Vote4Dance this is handled through organization membership and role permissions.

What this step is for

This step links your organizer account to the correct school/club so you can manage registrations, licensing workflows, and event operations in the correct context.

Before you start

Prepare:

  • Exact organization name
  • Organization admin contact
  • Your required role (Member, Manager, or Administrator)

If you do not know your role, ask: “Do I need edit permissions in Manager?”

Where to go

  1. Sign in to Vote4Dance
  2. Open your profile or dashboard
  3. Go to Organizations or My Organizations
  4. Use Join organization or request invite via admin

Step-by-step

Step 1: Identify the correct organization

Confirm with your team:

  • Official org name
  • Federation alignment
  • Which events this org controls

Do not guess. Similar names are common.

Step 2: Request access

Use one of these methods:

  • Self-request in app: Organizations -> Join organization
  • Direct invite from admin: admin opens org users and invites your email

Step 3: Get the correct role

Roles matter:

Role Typical access
Member Basic visibility
Manager Operational edit access
Administrator Full org control

If you must run event operations, request at least Manager.

Step 4: Accept invite and verify context

  1. Open invite email and accept
  2. Sign in again
  3. Open My Organizations
  4. Confirm target organization appears
  5. Open it and verify your role in Users/Members

Step 5: Verify operational permissions

  1. Open Manager
  2. Switch to this organization context
  3. Confirm you can open and edit event data

If read-only, your role is likely too low.

Common blockers and fixes

“I joined, but I cannot edit anything”

Cause: Member role only.

Fix: ask admin to upgrade you to Manager or Administrator.

“I don’t see the organization after invite”

Fix:

  1. Confirm invite was sent to your active login email
  2. Sign out/in
  3. Ask admin to resend invite

“I was added to the wrong organization”

Fix:

  1. Leave incorrect org or ask admin to remove you
  2. Join correct org
  3. Re-check event context before edits

What success looks like

You can act under the correct school/club context and perform required organizer tasks without permission errors.

Next step

Continue to Joining a federation to align the organization and event with federation requirements.
