Federation class transfer governance
Class transfer is one of the most sensitive federation responsibilities because it changes who may compete where.
What this step is for
This step defines how class progression, manual overrides, and transition decisions are governed.
How it works
- Define progression policy: points source, points table, thresholds and target classes per division — see Promotion points.
- Let the automation run: promotions apply when a competition is closed and a couple’s balance reaches the class threshold, with the reason recorded in their history.
- Define when manual exceptions are allowed.
- Apply exceptions through the division Status tab — membership edits for manual promotion or demotion, and the carryover action for corrected opening balances. Every change records a reason.
- Verify outcomes in the control log and the couple’s profile page; communicate final decisions clearly to clubs and organizers.
Common blockers
- Progression policy is not specific enough.
- Manual exceptions are handled without documentation.
- Clubs receive the decision too late.
What success looks like
Class transfer decisions are traceable, consistent, and clear to the affected parties.
